As a vlogger, I tend to explore lots of abandoned buildings or areas that have been left there to decay in the hands of nature.

Places with a history

I am interested in going into places that have a history to the place or the area itself had a history of its own, which in some circumstances, the people left that building or buildings abandoned to decay, not restoring it or transforming it to something else. The majority of places I visited were left there with a story to tell and no person to say it, and obviously, left there for vandals to take advantage of the abandoned area. It breaks my heart as a history enthusiast to see a part of the country’s history to decay and left to perish by time, and it would be late to recover what was originally there in the first place.

Places that I have discovered with the help of some friends, where located in various parts of malta, and who in history dated back from the knights of st john to the British army, so from the 1500’s to the 1960’s and I must say that half of them were abandoned, while on the side exploring houses and areas that were places of interest in the Maltese islands till the late 2000’s and was left to decay. As these locations were interesting to see and walk around them, I ended up wondering and imagining what could have happened in those places at the peak of their existence.

Questions that run through my mind

I usually stop for a few minutes and try to feel the vibes of what could have happened there or the work that was held in those areas. The questions that run through my mind are, how many people used to live or work here? were they happy living and working here? how was the whole surrounding was back in that day?  so on and so forth.

Doing these vlogs for me deep down have a sense of satisfaction as I try to share my experience in exploring places to other people, so that they can see and try to feel the excitement and the story one building or an area has to offer. But I fear that who is watching might go there to vandalize the area, so I suggest that entering an area is just for exploring and for your own fun only.

I would like to see the abandoned parts that I have visited be resorted by some entity or group so that the history itself relive again and we could all enjoy watching it grow and develop so we. as people, make our own history there as well.
