Beaches in Malta

The Maltese islands are a paradise for those who love beaches. Since Malta, Gozo and Comino are islands, they are gifted with a good number of awesome beaches, some are overpopulated in summer, while others are less populated as they are secluded. Some of these beaches are said to have the cleanest waters in the EU.

There are beaches for everyone: swimmers, divers, windsurfers, sunbathers and even dogs. Some beaches are rocky and some are sandy. Maybe the best beaches in Malta are Mellieha Bay, Ghajn Tuffieha, in Gozo are Ramla l-Hamra and Hondoq ir-Rummien, whilst is Comino the best beach is Blue Lagoon.

Always check the local information before you go swimming. Like anywhere else, the sea might be dangerous if it is windy or there might be undercurrents. Check if there are jellyfish in the area. Never swim or dive alone. If the UV is high, make sure to have protection against the sun. On weekends the beaches are more populated.
