Beautiful old Arab townhouse in Mdina, Malta

In Mdina, there was an old Arab townhouse which is today serving as a restaurant and tea-garden. Some of the rooms of this place date back to the Norman era, and some walls are of Arab origins. The facade of this house faces South, while on the back there is a small terrace on the bastion.

One can enjoy beautiful views from this terrace, both over land and also sea, – sometimes Sicily is visible on some clear nights, whereas St. Paul’s Bay can be seen in the distance.

There is an underground spring which is still functioning well, and there is also a wartime raid shelter. This shelter was chopped and built into the bastion walls.

This is now Coogi’s Restaurant. It is worth a visit, both for the food and also to appreciate this nice building.
