What is Black Friday?

This is the name given to the shopping day that comes after Thanksgiving. Black Friday is one of the most profitable retail days. Shops and stores offer deep discounts on the day. And with deep discounts we mean real discounts. Although all this started in the Unites States, today, Black Friday is all over the world including London and Vienna.

But why the name Black Friday?
Some 70 years ago, people in the United States of America began to call in sick (from work) the day after Thanksgiving. This means that they would have a four-day weekend. The volume of all these people who turn up as shoppers created chaos, that is traffic accidents and also violence.
Other similar shopping days are Cyber Monday and Green Monday. Cyber Monday will be celebrated on 28th November.

This year, Black Friday 2022, will be celebrated (by shoppers) on 25th November.
Last year, Black Friday 2021, was celebrated (by shoppers) on 26th November.
The Black Friday of 2020, was celebrated (by shoppers) on 27th November.
Black Friday 2019, was celebrated (by shoppers) on 29th November.

What to buy on Black Friday ?

As long as the deals are very worth it, you can buy anything on Black Friday. The experts say that one should buy gaming consoles, video games, kitchen appliances, televisions and smart home technology. Normally these items are the most discounted.

There are other items that experts discourage to buy on the date. These include Apples devices, toys, clothing and furniture. You can still opt for these items, but there won’t be a good deal.

Some retailers advise the deals beforehand. Other leave the consumers waiting until the last day.

Which are some of the online stores offering the best discounts?

Although there are thousands of online stores, I can only mention a few. This does not mean that these are the only or best stores.
Also, some experts claim that the best deals may not be on the day, but before.
