DIAMONDS OF FIRE

Diamonds of Fire 2016

What is the Event?

Diamonds of Fire is a unique event held in autumn on the eve of a public holiday. The Immaculate Conception which will be celebrated on December 8th, is the patron saint of the City of Cospicua. Cospicua forms part of the Three Cities. Although many feasts who fall during the winter months were transferred to another day during summer, Cospicua kept the date of the liturgical calendar to celebrate their own feast.

The Immaculate Conception feast days are usually between the 28th November and the 8th December. But this year, the feast started on 1st November as Cospicua is commemorating the 75th Anniversary from the National Pilgrimage which was held on the 19th November 1944. However this unique show will take place on Saturday 7th December.

In Malta, it is our tradition that on the eve of the titular feast a pyrotechnic show will be held. Although Cospicua’s feast falls in December and usually it would be a little bit chilly in the evening, Cospicua Local Council, and the Malta Tourism Authority in collaboration with Centru 19 ta’ Novembru 1944 and 8th December pyrotechnic group organise this unique show.

With the first show done in 2006, Diamonds of Fire formed part of the feast calendar and from time to time is became bigger than ever.

During this show, a spectacular fireworks show will be synchronised with music, using the Pyrodigit system provided to Cospicua’s Feast by Pyroemotions. All choreographies will be made from people from Cospicua.
