Exactly one year ago in Valletta – deserted roads

Exactly one year ago in Valletta – deserted roads

English Version:

Empty roads on a December 2020 Saturday morning in Valletta during the pandemic. Exactly one year ago, the roads of Valletta were all deserted, not because of bad weather but as a result of the pandemic. During that time, the vaccine was still not available and there were some restrictions which included mandatory wearing of face-masks in outdoor places. Since then, some restrictions changed, and more people are visiting the Maltese capital, Valletta.

Excluding the pandemic times, how do you prefer Valletta, lively during the morning or lively during the night?

Maltese Version:

Toroq vojta is-Sibt filgħodu f’Diċembru 2020 fil-Belt Valletta waqt il-pandemija. Eżattament sena ilu, it-toroq tal-Belt Valletta kienu kollha prattikament vojta, mhux minħabba l-maltemp imma riżultat tal-pandemija. Matul dak iż-żmien, il-vaċċin kien għadu mhux disponibbli u kien hemm xi restrizzjonijiet li kienu jinkludu l-ilbies obbligatorju ta’ maskri tal-wiċċ f’postijiet fil-beraħ. Minn dakinhar, xi restrizzjonijiet inbidlu, u aktar nies qed iżuru l-kapitali Maltija, il-Belt Valletta.

Esklużi ż-żminijiet tal-pandemija, kif tippreferi l-Belt Valletta, mimlija ħajja matul il-jum jew matul il lejl?

  1. We were in Malta in March 2020 and it Valletta at the time was like something out of a horror movie. One day the streets very busy the next they were close to empty. It was nice to see during our latest visit a month ago that there were still people on the island 🙂
