What is Festa Għeneb?

Festa Għeneb is a Grape Festival which has been running for the eight year.
The festival is organised by Local Council of Siġġiewi, and the final aim for this festival is to be a family-oriented event with all the proceedings going to Dar Tal-Providenza. There is no entrance fee for this event.
There are a number of volunteers and entities that help out in order for this festival to be successful.

During Festa Għeneb one could enjoy a variety of traditional food from local stands, music (including folklore music), songs, games for children, and obviously wine. Part of this event included the wine tasting.

A number of tables and chairs were available, in order for those attending this festival to eat comfortable while enjoying the live entertainment on stage.

There was also the genuine ‘granita’ made from fresh grapes. I can say that it was very tasty.

Where there any exhibitions?

There were a number of exhibitions which those visiting the festival could attend including:
Art Exhibition (private exhibition)

Where and when was it held?

This festival was held in Saint Nicholas Square in the beautiful town of Siġġiewi (Citta’ Ferdinand). The event started at 18.30 local time and finished at 23.30.
Since the Square in Siġġiewi is quite large, the festival could easily fit in this place and accommodate a large number of visitors.
It is important to note that Siġġiewi is the locality with the highest number of vineyards, having over 500,000 square metres of vines. This is the time of the year where the grape harvest takes place, also known as the vendemmia .
In the past Siġġiewi was re-known that most of the inhabitants were farmers.
