This location lies about one kilometer south-west of the famous Blue Grotto in Wied iż-Żurrieq. It is also very close to the historical tourist landmarks which are Hagar Qim and Mnajdra Temples. Għar Lapsi can be reached either by car or by public transport. The villages of Qrendi, Mqabba and Żurrieq are very close to this lovely location. Clear water at Għar Lapsi Għar Lapsi was very popular with the locals, but in the recent years it is attracting a very good number of tourists. There are no tourists accommodations in the area, which means that tourists who go there, must be informed beforehand. A big parking area, three restaurants, a handful of residential houses and a good number of boathouses can be found in this area. A small Police Station is also available, whilst a family recreation park is being built. Two bays The bay which is rocky, is divided into two, one is where the fishermen can use a ramp to get their boats from the boathouse to the sea; if you are lucky, you can also evidence how the fishermen take their boats up or down from the sea. The other bay in Għar Lapsi is where are two sunbathing area, and also a big cave – this area is much bigger than the other and thus it is more popular. Both areas are available for swimming but there are a good number of steps to reach the bay from the road. Apart from the swimming, the bay is also ideal for snorkeling and diving in this clear water. The are a number of interesting sea creatures including fish, different families of crabs, stingrays, flying gurnards, octopus and many more small marine life. Although the bay is rocky, a good part of the seabed is sandy. This makes the water very clear and visible – you can easily see the seabed or any fish passing by. Apart from swimming in Għar Lapsi , one can also take a walk enjoying the mighty cliff face and views of wonderful Maltese coastline. The very small island of Filfla, is a few kilometers away, and is just beautiful especially at sunset. Unluckily Filfla was a test bombing site, when Malta was under the British Colony. There are also a some benches at street level with unobstructed sea view. In summer people also use this location is the evening. A nice barbeque, or eating by the sea (bring your own food) is also very popular. Għar Lapsi is not to miss.
