From January to December, it is always magical, a wonderful gem, a secluded bay. Yesterday evening, I had some free time, and thus I grabbed my DSLR (a Canon 5D mark II), a wide angle lens and my tripod and made it to Għar Lapsi. What was I looking for? I wanted to ensure that whatever I experience, I will share it with you. That is the reason of taking the camera equipment with me. You can watch the video at the top or the bottom of the page.My aim was to be in Għar Lapsi between 6pm and 6.45pm to capture the sunset and also dusk. It is the best time of the day to capture photos and also to relax a bit. That time is very limited, so you have to make the best out of it. What did I find? Għar Lapsi in October is very quiet. The area was quite different from what I used to see in summer when I used to go to swim. The last time I went, I was swimming with a jelly fish (see video here). The parking area was nearly deserted. There were some people dining in the three available restaurants, whilst others were sitting on benches, relaxing and enjoying the sunset. I counted three persons who were swimming during that time interval. I believe, that much more still go to swim during the sunlight hours.Like all sunsets, the sunset at Għar Lapsi is unique and spectacular. The combination of sky, land, sea and only one block of building makes a perfect picture. I captured a number of shots from different angles. I also went near the sea and captured some other photos. On my way back up, I also took some video footage so that you can see how calm and deserted is Għar Lapsi in October.
