These concerts feature various local and foreign artists with different genres of music from baroque to classical to contemporary. Date of Concert: Tuesday 11 February 2020 at 12:30pmName : Autumn Leaves by Soprano Hannah Bonnici and Harpist Jacob PortelliVenue: St Catherine of Italy Church, Valletta Soprano Hannah Bonnci will present a recital of beautiful songs and tunes accompanied by harpist Jacob Portelli. Amongst other lovely pieces, the programme embraces sparkling songs, lied and melodies by various composers in French, German and English. The fields of Athenry by Pete St. John, The Singer by Michael Head, Les Feuilles mortes (Autumn Leaves) by Joseph Kosma, Fantasie c-Moll op. 35 by Louis Spohr and Flow my tears by John Dowland. The programme ensues with Johann Sebastian Bach’s Preludio from Partita no.3 in E major, BWV 1006, Fernando Obradors’ Del Cabello mas sutil and Edvard Grieg’s Solveig’s song. Hannah Bonnci & Jacob Portelli Hannah Bonnici Hannah Bonnici was born in 1993 in Malta. She studied classical voice at the Johann Strauss School of Music for seven years, initially under the direction of Mezzo-Soprano Clare Massa and then Latvian opera singer Karmen Radovska, graduating with her Diploma in Voice in 2016. Hannah was an active member of the Manoel Theatre Youth Opera for the five years of its running (2013-2018), performing in several concerts and operas alongside other aspiring opera singers during this time. She has actively participated in Masterclasses both locally and overseas with vocal coaches and experts including Joy Mammen, Maija Kovalevska, Zigrida Krigere, Wolfgang Holzmair, Marco Mencoboni, Gillian Zammit, Miriam Cauchi and Andriana Yordanova. Jacob Portelli Jacob Portelli is proficient on both the Celtic and the Concert Grand Pedal Harp, Jacob is a highly sought-after harpist in Malta. Jacob was personally invited to perform with Cordia Quartet to perform for H.M the Queen of England. He is regularly engaged to perform in prestigious events such as State Dinners and national gala events presided by the President of Malta and Prime Minister, at Verdala Palace, San Anton Residence and the Grand Master’s Palace. In 2016, he was personally invited to perform to H.M the Queen of England, Elizabeth II during a Commonwealth event at Malborough House, London. Other high-profile events have included performances during CHOGM 2015 meetings, performances for Presidents of EU Heads of State during Arraiolos 2017 and dinners for EU Maltese Presidency 2017.
