Barocco Foundation presents soprano Marvic Baldacchino and harpist Jacob Portelli in a varied and uplifting programme of songs and arias during a lunchtime concert. These weekly concerts take place at St. Catherine of Italy in Valletta and start at 12:30pm.

The inspiring programme includes delightful pieces by Bach, Faure’, Grieg, Schubert.

Soprano Marvic Baldacchino

Soprano Marvic Baldacchino (b.1998) commenced her vocal studies in 2011 with mezzo-soprano Claire Massa at the Johann Strauss School of Music and later went on to study with soprano Miriam Cauchi at the Malta School of Music. Marvic has participated in masterclasses with many acclaimed singers including Janis Kelly and Jamie Mc Dougall at Oxenfoord International (UK) and with Juliette Bisazza, Tatiana Lisnic, Miriam Gauci and Prof. Carlos Conde Gonzales in Malta.

As a soloist, recent engagements include recitals at Dar Malta (Brussels, Belgium) and St Giles’ Cathedral (Edinburgh, UK), concerts with American Voices Ensemble, Mozart’s Coronation Mass and excerpts from Handel’s Messiah in concert with the Collegium Musicum (Malta), Joseph Calleja’s Winter Concert with the MPO in Malta, concerts of Opera Arias with the Orchestra Filarmonica Nissena in Malta and Italy, a concert with Cappella Diacono (Malta) at the Megaron Concert Hall (Athens, Greece) as well as regular recitals in Malta and the UK.

Jacob Portelli

Jacob Portelli is proficient on both the Celtic and the Concert Grand Pedal Harp.  Jacob is a highly sought-after harpist in Malta. He was personally invited to perform with Cordia Quartet to perform for H.M the Queen of England.

He is regularly engaged to perform in prestigious events such as State Dinners and national gala events presided by the President of Malta and Prime Minister, at Verdala Palace, San Anton Residence and the Grand Master’s Palace. In 2016, he was personally invited to perform to H.M the Queen of England, Elizabeth II during a Commonwealth event at Malborough House, London. Other high-profile events have included performances during CHOGM 2015 meetings, performances for Presidents of EU Heads of State during Arraiolos 2017 and dinners for EU Maltese Presidency 2017.
