Malta COVID19 – 159 new cases in the last 7 days

Since Sunday 26th July, that is, during the last seven COVID19 updates, Malta registered 159 new COVID19 cases. At least 13 cases were related to the Hotel Takeover party, and another 15 related to the Santa Venera feast (excluding Saturday’s update as details were not provided). This figure also includes at least 88 migrants.

Sunday 26th July

14 new cases within the last 24 hours
Total number of cases since day 1 is 700
Total number of recoveries is 665
Number of active cases stands at 26
There were no recoveries
1,220 tests for these 24 hours
Total number of deaths stands at 9
Total number of swabs 120,145

9 of the new cases are related to the Hotel Takeover party
2 cases were imported
The remaining 3 were local

Monday 27th July

1 new case within the last 24 hours
Total number of cases since day 1 is 701
Total number of recoveries is 665
Number of active cases stands at 27
There were no recoveries
850 tests for these 24 hours
Total number of deaths stands at 9
Total number of swabs 120,995

Tuesday 28th July

7 new cases within the last 24 hours
Total number of cases since day 1 is 708
Total number of recoveries is 665
Number of active cases stands at 34
There were no recoveries
1,353 tests for these 24 hours
Total number of deaths stands at 9
Total number of swabs 122,348

1 of the new cases is related to the Hotel Takeover party

Wednesday 29th July

12 (+66 migrants) new cases within the last 24 hours

Number of active cases stands at 46 (+66 migrants)

Total number of deaths stands at 9

Thursday 30th July

9 (+19 migrants) new cases within the last 24 hours
Total number of cases since day 1 is 729 (+85 migrants)
Total number of recoveries is 665
Number of active cases stands at 55 (+85 migrants)
There were no recoveries
1,722 tests for these 24 hours
Total number of deaths stands at 9
Total number of swabs 125,685

Most of the patients are under 35 years of age

Friday 31st July

10 new cases within the last 24 hours
Total number of cases since day 1 is 824
Total number of recoveries is 665
Number of active cases stands at 150
There were no recoveries
1,314 tests for these 24 hours

6 of the new cases form part of the Santa Venera feast cluster
4 cases are sporadic (no connection to other patients)
Total active cases include 85 migrants

Saturday 1st August

21 new cases within the last 24 hours
Total number of cases since day 1 is 845
Total number of recoveries is 665
Number of active cases stands at 171
There were no recoveries
1,748 tests for these 24 hours
Total number of deaths stands at 9
Total number of swabs 128,747

Most of the patients are under 35 years of age
One patient is 80 years old
3 cases are migrants who were in quarantine
Majority of the cases were related to contacts of previously reported positive cases
2 cases were imported
