What about Marsaxlokk?

Marsaxlokk is a traditional fishing village located in the south-east of the beautiful island of Malta. The locations is situated between the towns of Zejtun, Marsaskala and Birzebbuga. Sometimes it is referred as Portus Herculis. It is a tourist attraction but also popular with the locals. It is very famous for:
– the good restaurants specializing in fish
– the Sunday open Market
– the traditional boats called “Luzzus” (luzzu in singular).
– for its history

Tell me more about Marsaxlokk

Marsaxlokk has a population of circa 3,500. It has a harbour which is unique and spectacular as it welcomes the beautiful luzzus, which are typical Maltese boats, mainly painted in yellow, blue and brown.
There are two types of markets, one which takes place between the weeks and is the tourists market. The other which is held on Sundays is more famous for the fresh fish.
Marsaxlokk is twinned with the Italia town of Cadeo.
You can get there by bus or by private car.
You can also take some boat trips which are available in the area.

Other interesting information

One of the nicest beaches in Malta is called St Peters Pool. This rocky beach is “partly secluded” and a quiet spot. It is popular for swimming, sunbathing and jumping in the sea. There is also a sandy beach which is located on the eastern part of this locality.
Some popular zones in Marsaxlokk are Delimara, tas-Silg, Torri San Lucjan and Xrobb l-Għaġin.
The church of this locality is dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary.
There are a good number of restaurants in the area which all specialize into fish. On beautiful days these restaurants are packed and also have an outdoor seating on the pavement by the sea.
