Sanremo 2021

In Italian it is called Festival della canzone italiana di Sanremo which translated in English means Italian song festival of Sanremo. It is the most famous song festival in Italy and maybe in the world. This year, it was the 71st edition of the festival.

The festival was held as usual in the Teatro Ariston in Sanremo. Sanremo is a town is the region of Liguria. The festival kicked off on Tuesday 2nd March and came to an end on Saturday 6th March. It was organised by the Italian public broadcaster RAI.

Presenters

After the end of the 2020 edition, RAI officially confirmed Amadeus as the presenter of the 71st edition of the Sanremo Music Festival. He was assisted by  Italian comedian and television presenter Fiorello. and there were also five female hosts: Matilda De Angelis, Elodie, Vittoria Ceretti, Barbara Palombelli, Beatrice Venezi and Giovanna Botteri

Past Winners

The first festival of Sanremo was won by Nilla Pizzi with the song ‘Grazie dei fiori’. She also won the second edition. Famous songs which won the festival include ‘Nel blu dipinto di blu’ in 1958, ‘Adessu Tu’ in 1986 and ‘Perdere l’amore’ in 1988.
