The average yearly temperature for Malta is 18.7 degrees Celsius. Just to compare:Malta 18.7 degrees Celsius UK 9.3 degrees Celsius Rome 15.5 degrees Celsius Munich 8 degrees Celsius Stockholm 6 degrees Celsius Malta has a Mediterranean climate. This means that the summer can be very hot while the winter is very mild. Winter tends to be wet, whilst summer very dry. The coldest month being January and the warmest being August. The average precipitation in Malta is 557.5mm. Relative humidity is high with an average of 75%. Average temperature (in Celsius) January 12.4 February 12.7 March 13.5 April 15.7 May 18.8 June 22.7 July 26 August 26.8 September 23.9 October 21.1November 17.1 December 13.8 Precipitation and average precipitation (mm) Malta, being a small island without lakes and mountains, needs to have a very good supply of water. Most of summer is dry due to minimal or no rain. During winter, the rain comes down as heavy showers which makes it difficult to reserve it and it gets washed to the sea. One also needs to take in consideration that it may be cloudy and rainy in January and thus this affects the hours of sunshine. Sea temperature Believe it or not the temperature of the sea is warmer than expected. The average sea temperature is 20 degrees Celsius which is more than the average air temperature of 18.7 degrees Celsius. The coldest month for the sea is February, whilst the warmest is August. However, all of the following months fair well in this regard: June, July, August, September and October. November has an average of 21 degrees Celsius which is higher than one expects.
